About Us
Welcome to the Fakenham & District Light Operatic Society (FADLOS) website, home of the small society with a big heart and bigger ambitions!
Fadlos was set up in 1967 in Fakenham with a vision to perform plays with local people. We were then invited to become the resident in-house theatrical group at the newly built Fakenham Community Centre. This was a game-changer for us and allowed us to produce bigger and better shows for the local community.
After 10 years of performing plays, we started producing an annual family pantomime, which quickly became a hit with audiences of all ages. For 35 years, members came and went, and we continued to produce one musical and one pantomime each year. During this time, we won seven NODA awards for Best Musical (3), Best Youth Production (2), Best Pantomime (1), and Best Individual Youth Performance (1). These awards are a testament to our commitment to excellence and our love for musical theatre.
As our society grew, we realised the importance of giving young people an opportunity to get involved in theatre. And so, Fadlos Kidz was born. Fadlos Kidz provides young people with a safe and supportive environment to learn about theatre and perform in front of live audiences. We are proud of the talented young performers who have gone on to achieve great things in the industry.
At the heart of our society is a sense of community and fun. We welcome new members for any show, whether it’s on stage, front of house, backstage, or making tea. We believe that everyone has something to contribute, and we value the unique talents and skills that each person brings to the table. We also believe that theatre should be fun and enjoyable for everyone involved, and we strive to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
