FADLOS to perform Little Shop Of Horrors

Exciting news for theater fans in FADLOS (Fakenham & District Light Operatic Society)! The group has announced its upcoming performance of the popular musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”

The show, with music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, tells the story of Seymour, a hapless florist’s assistant who discovers a strange and exotic plant that turns out to have a thirst for human blood. As the plant grows and demands more victims, Seymour struggles to keep it fed while dealing with his own desires and the machinations of his sadistic boss and love interest.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is known for its catchy tunes, dark humor, and memorable characters, including the menacing and charismatic plant, Audrey II. The show has been adapted into various forms, including a movie, an animated series, and a stage revival, but the original Off-Broadway production in 1982 was a critical and commercial success, earning numerous awards and running for over five years.

FADLOS, which has a long history of producing quality plays and musicals in Fakenham, is taking on the challenge of bringing the quirky and macabre world of “Little Shop of Horrors” to life. The group has assembled a talented cast and crew, including director Scott Meacock, music director Jo Kemp, and choreographer Tilly Baron, who have been rehearsing for months to perfect the singing, dancing, and acting required for the show.

The lead roles of Seymour and Audrey will be played by Ryan Standing and Tilly Baron, respectively, both of whom have previous experience in FADLOS productions and other theater companies. Other notable roles include Orin, the sadistic dentist played by Jeremy Barker, and Mr. Mushnik, the grumpy florist played by Nick Bird.

But perhaps the most anticipated performer of “Little Shop of Horrors” is the puppeteer and voice behind Audrey II, the ravenous plant that grows from a small potted sprout to a giant, carnivorous monster. FADLOS has spared no expense in creating a stunning and lifelike puppet, voiced and operated by Ben Francis.

The puppet, which requires intricate movements and vocal effects, is a marvel of engineering and artistry and promises to be a highlight of the show. Audiences can expect to be both delighted and frightened by Audrey II’s sassy demeanor, insatiable appetite, and ominous presence.

In addition to the talented cast and crew, FADLOS has also invested in high-quality costumes, sets, and lighting, to create a fully immersive and atmospheric experience for theatergoers. The group is confident that their production of “Little Shop of Horrors” will be a memorable and entertaining evening for audiences of all ages.

The show will run between Tuesday 9th – Saturday 13th May with evening performances starting at 7:30, Tickets are available at our online box office, but early booking is recommended as FADLOS productions tend to sell out quickly.
